The basic emission testing procedure follows a simple 4-step process:
STAGE 1 – Preparation
- Vehicle is delivered into the preparation area and is prepared to ensure compliance to international test requirements. This includes changing to a reference fuel and checking and cleaning of the tyres.
STAGE 2 – Soaking
- Vehicle is placed in an environmentally controlled chamber for a minimum period of 6 hours. This is to assimilate the vehicle to the temperature and humidity of the chamber.
STAGE 3 -Testing
- Vehicle is pushed into the test area and secured onto a chassis dynamometer.
- Vehicle is started up and driven according to a specified drive cycle. Emission collected via the exhaust pipe is then accurately analysed.
